The use of technology combined with convergence has the potential to transform the facilities management from its current form. With a steep change in the past few years where facility managers have moved beyond managing peripherals to elements central to the building such as heating and lighting. There are now several strong drivers for converging the IT infrastructure with a facility management system (FMS), particularly when using IP networks which allow a FMS to hang off the network.
