Driving UP's Digital Revolution with NEC

NEC Corporation India, an IT and Network technology, possesses a 70-year legacy of catalyzing India’s digital transformation by creating solutions for society. At a recent briefing titled "स्मार्ट उत्तर प्रदेश, NEC के संग - प्रगति की नई उमंग," the company reaffirmed this commitment. The meeting aimed to highlight NEC's pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life of citizens in Uttar Pradesh by creating futuristic Smart Cities through advanced solutions, such as Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC), city management, and intelligent transportation & traffic management systems, contributing to the state's development across diverse parameters. 

 

Robust digital infrastructure and intelligent urban spaces are pivotal for economic growth, as the recent Union Budget underscored. NEC India's cutting-edge solutions and technological prowess align with its vision to enable brighter futures. By enabling seamless, efficient, and secure experiences, geared towards holistic citizen wellbeing, NEC India upholds its 70-year legacy of commitment to India's aspirations, powered by cutting-edge Japanese technology.   

 

NEC has implemented Integrated Command and Control Centers (ICCC) in these cities to improve management, safety, and efficiency.

 

  • Meerut: The city features advanced traffic management systems, including ATCS at 8 junctions, ANPR at 62 locations, RLVD at 31 locations, and Speed Violation systems at 7 locations. Public address systems, emergency call boxes, and 150 Wi-Fi access points are also installed, all managed from a centralized control room.

  • Saharanpur: An extensive surveillance system with around 1,000 cameras, including 17 ATCS, 63 RLVD, and 103 ANPR systems, has been deployed. Additional features include a Vehicle Management System (VMS), 200 km of optical fiber, AI-based video analytics, and citizen collaboration kiosks.

  • UPSRTC Transformation: NEC provides real-time bus tracking, passenger information systems, and a centralized command centre for 5,000 buses across 3,000 routes. The project includes 20 regional command centres, operating 40,000 trips daily and serving 16 lakh passengers.

  • Biometric Boarding (DigiYatra) in Varanasi: A facial recognition-based biometric solution at Varanasi airport has significantly reduced waiting times, with 80% average utilization, indicating strong user adoption. These technologies have greatly improved operational efficiency, particularly at Varanasi airport, where waiting times have been cut by more than half

 

The recent introduction of their enhanced Global Smart City Suite featured innovative solutions like NEC Mi-Command( Integrated Command & Control Center), NEC Mi-City (Citizen Engagement Portal), NEC Mi-Eye(Intelligent Video Analytics), and NEC Mi-WareSync (Warehouse Management System), marks a significant progression in their capabilities. Beyond these offerings, NEC India excels in biometrics, submarine cables, logistics, and AI applications across various sectors. Key contributions include the Aadhaar Program and Biometric Boarding Solutions for the DigiYatra initiative at major airports such as Pune, Vijayawada, Kolkata, and Varanasi. NEC India's innovations are fundamentally geared towards making urban life smarter, safer, and more .
