BW CIOWorld Launches 'CIO Champions League'

To break the monotony of daily routine and bring that element of zing, BW CIOWorld has launched the CIO Champions League cricketing event.  The event was organized on July 23 at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium – a venue that boasts of hosting all indoor sport activities of the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi. Delhi Daredevils, the GMR Group-owned cricket team representing Delhi in the IPL (Indian Premier League), was the supporting partner for the event. The job of a CIO is extremely stressful, to say the least. Keeping the IT infrastructure up and running, ensuring business continuity, adding to the company’s top or bottom line – the list is never ending, and beyond doubt exhausting. All this leaves little time for an enterprise technology leader to strike the proverbial work-life balance. The idea behind launching CIO Champions League was to present an opportunity for technology decision makers to take time off from their grinding schedules and simply have fun. The initiative also offered a chance for technology leaders to meet their peers and network with them in an informal environment over a thrilling game of cricket. The 32 participating CIOs were divided into four teams of 8 each. To decide the rankings, there were four matches in all. The innovative format saw the matches being played under lights with Cosco cricket ball.  Each CIO of the winning team will be presented a bat signed by all the players of the Delhi Daredevil team. Among the top CIOs who were seen in action during the CIO Champions League included Sachin Jain, CIO, Evalueserve; Tamal Chakravorty, CIO, Ericsson; Atul Nigam, CIO, Micromax; Chander Khanduja, CIO, Luminous; Manoj Kumar, CIO, Acme; and Atul Goyal, CIO, India Glycols. After the overwhelming response and successful completion of the Delhi leg, BW CIOWorld is now taking the event to Bengaluru and Mumbai.
