Varnish Software Extends Cloud Offering

Varnish Software, a pioneer in caching software and high-performance content delivery, has extended its current cloud offering available through the AWS (Amazon Web Service) marketplace to Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

Varnish Plus Cloud gives customers a flexible way to manage traffic to websites, applications or content delivery networks (CDNs), guaranteeing high performance and a seamless customer experience, even during peak times, while keeping costs under control. The open source solution Varnish Cache has also been made available on these cloud platforms.

Varnish Plus Cloud delivers secure, high-powered and scalable internet traffic at an affordable price. The solution can be up and running in a few minutes. As it is designed to be elastic, the user can choose when to scale capacity up or down depending on predicted traffic patterns. Unpredicted peaks will not require hardware investments.

According to the Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI), IP traffic has not only grown dramatically over the last two decades, but is also expected to triple between 2016 and 2022. Even more problematic for enterprises are traffic peaks that occur online when campaigns or products go viral - either by design or in response to unforeseen events.

Caching technologies such as Varnish Plus, help ensure that when this happens, you can easily handle the traffic peaks and do not risk your site crashing. Without caching software, handling “epic-scale” peaks usually requires more hardware, which is not only expensive but inflexible. Varnish Plus Cloud offers a much less expensive, more flexible and more dynamic alternative.

"Enterprise cloud adoption is growing and we have received a lot of positive feedback after making Varnish Plus Cloud available last year," said Lars Larsson, CEO of Varnish Software. "In our uncertain times, customers of all sizes look for more flexibility and cost-efficient solutions to cope with the traffic to their sites, apps or CDNs. Varnish Software is responding to this need by offering the option to deploy Varnish Plus in the cloud."
