Unitas Global, the leading enterprise hybrid cloud solution provider, announced that its founder and CTO, Grant Kirkwood, will present at OpenStack Summit , taking place May 8-11, 2017 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA.
On Tuesday, May 9, from 5:30-6:10 p.m., Kirkwood will join Arturo Suarez, Product Strategy at Canonical for a session titled, “Cloud Wars! Public vs. Private Cloud Economics .”
In what promises to be a provocative discussion, Kirkwood and Suarez will discuss a major data processing company that was recently trying to determine what cloud model would best meet their needs most cost-effectively: public cloud, or private hosted OpenStack.
The industry colleagues will examine comparative unit cost economics, urban sprawl/orphans, paying for capacity versus paying for performance, the “feature black hole,” and the financial modeling associated with the two cloud models.
“It can be difficult to find the necessary data to determine whether a private, public or hybrid cloud model is most appropriate and most cost-effective for a given organization,” explains Kirkwood.
“It is critical to balance the ‘nice to have’ with the ‘must have’ considerations in determining how to deploy resources and expense. I look forward to the likely healthy debate this panel will generate, and educating OpenStack Summit attendees about the critical cost and other considerations when deploying a cloud.”
