Ultrahaptics announces strategic distribution agreement with Cornes

Ultrahaptics, the leading mid-air haptics company, announced a distribution agreement with Cornes Technologies, a leading distributor of electronic components, industrial machinery and scientific equipment in Japan.

Cornes Technologies has demonstrable expertise in the promotion, distribution and support of the latest technologies sourced from around the world. This agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, that has seen Cornes Technologies’ knowledge of Ultrahaptics’ technology and products grow rapidly.

Ultrahaptics’ technology uses ultrasound to project sensations through the air, directly onto a user’s hand. This enables users to receive tactile feedback without coming into contact with a solid surface of any kind. Users are able to ‘feel’ buttons and interact with virtual objects in mid-air, using gestures to interface with technology.

Makoto Seki, executive director, Cornes, commented: “Cornes Technologies is actively expanding the range of innovative solutions it promotes to the Japanese market. We see Ultrahaptics as the perfect partner; its technology complements our existing product offerings and represents an evolutionary step in user interfaces. We are extremely excited to showcase this enabling technology to our customers.”

David Owen, VP of Business Development, Ultrahaptics, said: “We chose to partner with Cornes Technologies based on its extensive knowledge of the Japanese market in general and its access to strategic, focus markets in particular, including automotive and computing. With its focus on technology, Cornes Technologies is the ideal distribution partner for us and we are excited to support its sales efforts across Japan.”

The agreement covers all of the Ultrahaptics range, including the TOUCH Development Kit (UHDK5) and its Evaluation Program (UHEV1) across the whole of Japan.
