September heralds the filing of at least seven GST returns. For the first time, businesses in India will be filing invoice by invoice returns on the GSTN portal.
Both GSTPs and businesses will need to manage the complexity together. While GSTPs will help their clients with filing, businesses will need to support them with accurate digitized invoices and clarify any doubts they may have. Compliance therefore will be a shared responsibility.
Tally Solutions, the country’s premier business software provider is working with a 360 degree plan to help businesses and GSTPs sail through the first return filing season and pave the way for a GST compliant India. Since the roll out of GST, the company has seen businesses rush to get ready and most of them have many doubts in their mind related to formats of invoices, how to account for them in their books, HSN/SAC codes etc.
Tally has been focussing on educating businesses to get GST ready and with returns coming in, the focus is now on helping people get prepared for filing. The company has already conducted more than 7000 events and trainings including daily webinars that see 100s of people attend on a daily basis.
Post delivering a simple and easy to use GST billing software at the onset of GST which has been downloaded more than 3 million times already, the company has launched its latest release in the GST ready suite of Tally.ERP 9 Release 6.
The price of this product continues to be same as before i.e. INR 18,000+GST for a single user edition and INR 54,000+GST for a multi-user edition. However, most of Tally’s existing users will be able to upgrade to this release free of cost.
The new software supports various returns like GSTR 1 and GSTR 3B, which businesses need to file over the next one month. Given that returns are online and invoice based with multiple fields of data to be recorded for every invoice, accuracy of data is crucial. Tally allows for accurate return generation at the click of a button through its unique error prevention, detection and correction capability.
The solution intuitively prompts the user on potential errors that could have crept into the return because of data entry lapses at the invoice level and helps correct them. The business owner will therefore have peace of mind that his returns are fully correct. Once generated, the return in the form of a spreadsheet needs to be imported into the offline utility tool provided by GSTN.
The output from this tool can be filed directly on the GSTN portal. Tally will keep updating its product in line with requirements of the law and support its customers and other businesses through the coming weeks and months.
