Sony Mobile Backs Advancement of MulteFire for Industrial IoT and M2M

The MulteFire Alliance, an independent, diverse and international member-driven consortium defining and promoting MulteFire, announced that Sony Mobile Communications Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Corp. for Mobile Communications segment, has joined the Alliance.

“We value our membership in the MulteFire Alliance as the need for improved connectivity in industrial IoT settings and M2M communications is more important than ever,” said Izumu Kawanishi, Executive VP for Sony Mobile’s Product Business Group.

“We recognize that industry collaboration through member-driven groups like the MulteFire Alliance serve as a driving factor to ensure market interoperability and expedited technology adoption.”

“Sony has joined the Alliance at an opportune time, as we are currently laying the groundwork for the next set of features in the Release 1.1 specification, which includes IoT optimizations,” said Mazen Chmaytelli, president, MulteFire Alliance and senior director, Business Development, Qualcomm. “We look forward to working with the Sony team on specification development and market adoption.”
