L&T Technology Services Limited and PS Technology, a subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad, have announced a strategic partnership to introduce advanced AI-based simulation technologies to the railway market in India and nearby regions. The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to focus on designing, developing, and supplying these cutting-edge technologies, aiming to improve operational efficiency and safety in rail infrastructure both in India and abroad.

Inaugurating the Mobility Customer Experience and R&D Centre (CXC): L-R: Abhinav Bhan, Senior Managing Director and Global Head, PST, and Alind Saxena, Executive Director & President, Mobility & Tech, LTTS, said: As part of the agreement framework, LTTS and PST have established their first Customer Experience and R&D Centre (CXC) in Faridabad near New Delhi. This CXC will leverage new technologies around the design and supply of simulators, setting new standards in India's railroad sector. The centre aims to provide support and innovation, driving advancements in simulation and training capabilities for the Indian Railways.

The collaboration between PST and LTTS will enhance safety and provide real-time insights for modern-day transportation. This new centre will simulate real-time data collection, proactive decision-making, and improved resource management to establish superior standards in rail simulation, immersive learning, training, and crew management. By leveraging AI and augmented reality technologies, the centre aims to make rail transportation safer, more secure, and faster.

“We are thrilled to partner with L&T Technology Services to introduce our advanced simulator technology in India and adjacent rail markets. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to revolutionise rail infrastructure through innovation and localised solutions,” said Abhinav Bhan, Senior Managing Director and Global Head, of PST.

“L&T Technology Services’ extensive experience in the railway engineering domain, combined with PS Technology’s innovative simulator technology, forms a game-changing proposition for the global railway market. Our partnership will deliver transformative mobility solutions that enhance operational efficiency and safety across the rail network,” said Alind Saxena, Executive Director & President of mobility & Tech at LTTS.

Both companies view Indian Railways as progressive and undergoing transformation. Their focus is on meeting workforce upskilling needs at scale. They are collaborating with Gatishakti University for integrated solutions and have a long-term vision for evolving technology and localization. There's potential for solutions developed in India to be applied globally.

Key initiatives include setting up an R&D centre in India for customisation, developing simulators replicating Indian locomotive cockpits, and integrating with existing systems like Kavach. There's a strong emphasis on AI-based learning and digital twin concepts. The companies are also collaborating with the government through the Gatishakti Institute in Baroda.

The partnership is viewed as a long-term, evolving collaboration with the potential for India to develop world-class solutions for global operators. This aligns with the "Make in India" philosophy, aiming to create solutions for both domestic and international markets. The companies see this as an opportunity for India to leverage its technological advancements and contribute to the global railway industry.
