Global education system advances towards AI

Over the time, technology has expanded itself accessing all the fields it can. The progress of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning cannot be contained. The output of the progress can either be positive or negative. In this new era of advanced technology, the global education system has shifted drastically from traditional learning to e-learning. Further, AI’s progress in the field of education is dynamic in nature. The education system with the use of AI has resulted in better disclosure of knowledge and honest evaluation.

AI has been put in use in numerous education systems in schools and universities. Students these days, in a way, are getting dependent on technology but, at the same time, are gaining a lot of knowledge. The process of tech-enabled learning and smart content has improved the efficiency of understanding for students. Digitalization in the context of textbooks has made it easier for students to access the information anywhere and anytime. Smart content is the customizable learning which starts from elementary and stretches up to corporate levels.

Academia all across the world has been using smart tech, virtual courses, self-assessments, online tutoring systems and video conferences to keep up with the new age of digitalization. Virtual learning has provided students as well as teachers with experiences to simplify complex projects and concepts. However, on the other hand, sometimes it lacks practical knowledge and personal engagement.

Academia uses AI

India

In India, the CBSE board has started to adopt the concept of AI in academia and mold their system in such a way that students get well-versed with the growing usage of technologies. According to recent studies, the progress has been analyzed but a number of ordeals remain before the smooth run. Also, according to Niti Ayog, the government of India needs to partner with private organizations to leverage AI needs like affordability, accessibility and education.

China

China also has dedicated a large investment in ed-tech. The Mandarin project itself promotes AI in education. They have developed cognitive immersive room which is a 360-degree room with AI powered animated objects. As reported by Inside Higher Ed, “Talking to a computer, rather than a native speaker, can make learners feel less embarrassed about making mistakes", said Helen Zhou, Assistant Professor of Communication and Media at RPI.

The students will soon have to work in future where they will be surrounded by AI. Thus, it is important that the educational system supports AI so that students could get as much exposure as possible. The idea of utilizing technology and new media for educational purposes is of much use if used correctly. It is a slow process but the changes are being seen and will be continuing.
